What is machine-readable passport (MRP):

Recently MRP has been launched in Bangladesh; it reduces the harassment of public in the airport.  According to the rules of international civil aviation organization (ICAO), MRP and visa must be launched from this April. MRP looks like the typical passport. The only difference is that, the computer system of the airport can read the information of the passport. Though it is must to have MRP from this April, the typical passport got their validity until 2015.

Ways to apply in Bangladesh:

You can collect the forms from the website of Department of Immigration and passports (www.dip.gov.bd). No payment is needed. You have to download the form, print it, and fill it by writting. Procedure of submission:

The in charge officer will verify the application and then sign it with a seal. Then will have to submit the form in a specific place. There are several booths in the passport office. You can submit it there. The person who is in charge will entry your information and gives you a token. After that, you have to take his token and application to another officer for photo. The photo will be the same size as your national ID card. Moreover, you have to give your figure prints on the electronic machine. Then you have to give electronic signature. After that, the authority will accept your application and give you a document. You will be informed about the date of collecting the passport.  You can collect the passport on the given date. But police verification must be completed within this time.

About the MRP:

It has known that, the MRP is made in the form of the modern passport of other countries. Special cover made by clothes is used in the MRP. It consists the number of national ID card. There is some special symbolic number on the passport. It is called the machine-readable area. All the information of the applicant is in this area.

Facebook launched it's new app centre

Facebook has launched app centre to provide software service to its users. Apple and Android operated Smartphone and tablet users will get more benefits from it. This service will be available within a few weeks said Facebook. That’s how software developers will get a chance to sell different app directly to Facebook users. This system is offering paid application for the first time in this social networking site.

Trojan: millions of computers is going to disconnect to internet.

Guyzz… Trojan is out there. This is a malware, which can infect both windows and mac computers. Mainly Trojan is a DNS changer. DNS (domain name service) is how the web organizes its address. Process of re-inspection application of SSC result

Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent results for the year of 2012 have published a few days ago. Record numbers of students have passed this year. The ratio of getting GPA 5 is also high. But obviously there are also some students who are not satisfied with their result. For this reason, every year our education board authority arranges re-inspection system of the exam papers.

Re-scrutiny/Re-Examination/Re-Inspection application can be done by Teletalk mobile only.

Process for Re-inspection application via Teletalk:

• RSC<space>First 3 Character of Board Name<space>Roll Number<space>Subject Code and send to 16222.

• You will be sent a message with a PIN number after applying. This message will let you know the amount of payment needed for this application.

• After a while you will get another confirmation message to your mobile mentioning candidate’s name and track number.

This reexamining will cost you taka 125 per subject. For English & Bangla (subject code 107 and 101) only one application will be applied for both subjects it costs 250 taka.

"Pocket Switch"- a new solution of load shedding

Load shedding is one of the curses for Bangladesh. Whatever the amount of electricity production is, we are suffering for load shedding also for wasting electricity regularly. When you are reading this article, perhaps there is running light or fan unneeded at your home or office. But because you are not near it, you can’t stop it. This unnecessarily wasting of electricity causes more load shedding. Our little awareness can make a huge difference in this case. On the basis of this concept some students of Patuakhali University of Science and Technology of Bangladesh have invented “Pocket Switch”. With this device your mobile can become your switch. In other words, you can control any electrical equipment of your home/office through a windows supported mobile. You will be able to protect a devastating accident. You can even know, whether there is any fan or light is running unneeded at your home/office?

Pocket switch is nothing but a software-based project invented by a three-member team “Zero Hour”. Rejoyan, a team member said, “we made it to get relief from load shedding. We want to prevent any loss of electricity & everybody could get the benefit of electricity. Especially the people of the coastal region are deprived from electricity. We'd like to spread the light among them. We believe this attempt will help to achieve “Vision 2012”.”

The other member Mahfuz said, “Our project can also be used in remote controlled fire extinguisher.” He reminded about the fire incident happened in Bashundhara City market fire three years ago, “The market had its own fire extinguishing system still it fall victims of a devastating fire. If there was any remote control fire maintaining system the loss can be reduced, I guess.”

What will the cost of creating the project? In response, another team member Hira said, "It will not cost more than Tk. 200. So little cost indeed! But this little amount will prevent the misuse of electricity, save you from devastating fire incident & many more which is just unimaginable!" Mentioning about its technical side team “zero hour” said it is an app for windows mobile phone.

 “Zero hour” competed with more than 300 teams in “Microsoft Imagine cup-2012” & took 10^th place. Zero hour believes this project will win the whole world one day!

breast cancer: It's time to know

What is breast cancer?

The term “breast cancer” refers to a malignant tumor that has developed from cells in the breast. It is an unrestrained growth of breast cells.

There are two types of cancer:

• Benign

• Malignant

Benign: benign tumors are not dangerous to health. They don’t spread to other parts of the body. It isn’t cause of death.

Malignant:Malignant tumors are cancerous. In the long run they can spread beyond the original tumor to other parts of the body.

Women attacked by breast cancer in Bangladesh:          

Sixteen percent of the total cancer affected women in the country are victim to breast cancer, says a World Health Organization(WHO) study. According to the latest WHO data published in April 2011 Breast Cancer Deaths in Bangladesh reached 8,396 or 0.88% of total deaths.

The gruesomeness of breast cancer:

• Mid aged women die more for this disease.

•  At least 1 in every 10 women can be affected by breast cancer.

•  One person is detected in every 2 minutes.

•  & one person dies in every 14 minutes attacked by breast cancer.

Symptoms of breast cancer:

• An abnormal growth of all or part of the breast.

• Lump in the under arm area.

• Redness, thickening of the nipple or breast skin area

• Breast pain or nipple pain.

• Nipple turning inner side.

• Nipple discharge other than breast milk.

• Skin irritation.

Women who are in more risk:

•  Whose menstruation began in early twelve or before than that.

•  If anyone doesn’t have her menopause even after fifty

•   Having first child after thirty.

•   If someone's blood relative risk of bast cancer than is the case.

•   Too much smoking / drinking increases the risk of breast cancer.

How to reduce your risk:

• By controlling weight.

What to do if stuck into quicksand

 Quicksand is something we watch in English movies. It is one of the scariest things to us. But now, throw out your worry. Quicksand is not as frightening as we see it in movies. So let’s know something about it so that if you have to face that kind of situation ever you will be able to handle that easily. Do you know what quicksand really is? It is a mixture of water, liquid mud and salt water .Now if you ever fall into quicksand, what will be happened!!! 

First thing you have to do is…. Don’t panic. Stay calm!  Because it is not possible for a person to be drawn completely under quicksand. The reason is that human isn’t dense enough. The density of quicksand is about 2 grams per milliliter while human is only about 1 gram per milliliter. So that, sinking in quicksand is impossible. Got it, man! Still if this trouble finally arrives you what to do then?

How to get out of quicksand:

• If you are carrying anything heavy just drop it.

•  Relax! Most quicksand isn’t very deep. But if you come across a particularly deep spot, you could most likely sink immediately to your waist or chest level. If you panic you can sink further, but if you relax, your body will help you to float over there.

• Keep as still as possible until your feet touch solid ground.

• Breathe deeply. Keep as much air in your lungs as possible. This will make you more buoyant.

• Get on your back. Bend backward. The more you widen out your weight, the harder it will be to sink. Float on your back.

• Take your time. If you're stuck in quicksand, rapid movements will take you more to more depth. So, whatever you do, do it slowly.

• Whenever you go out for any tour try to carry some useful things like a rope at least 20 feet what will help you in this case.

So friends… No more frightening of quicksand. It’s not any bizarre of nature!

New service of facebook

Recently Facebook has started a new service. This is called ‘Offer’. Now users can see various offers of companies on their news feed. For example if any user likes the page of a restaurant, then the new offers of that restaurants will be appear on his news feed. He will have to click on the button ‘Get offer’.
